I'm looking at a Holley 670 Truck Avenger carb...will this fit on my 4.2? Is this too much for my stock motor? I am willing to spend 250-300 for a new one, any suggestions? I plan on hitting some mountain trails and mud holes, but no major rock climbing with this particular jeep, I need something "reliable" and "semi-gas thrifty" for work...lol

No, it will not fit, it's a 4 bbl,

besides it's too much carb for the 4.2, 670cfm

There is the 470CFM Truck avenger designed for small V8 and 6 cyl

part number 0-90470

There is a simple formula available that will put you right in the CFM ball park:

Engine size (CID) x maximum RPM / 3456 = CFM

258 x 6000 / 3456 = 448CFM

Thet is for the 4.2L doing 6000RPM at 100% efficiency if your truck is very fine tuned, has ported heads, headers, nice ignition, etc you could be achieving 85%.

The 470 is your best choice in the Holley line, good luck
