Hi,
need some help, I'm trying to remove the front right axle shaft so that
I can replace the CV joint boot. According to the manual I don't have
to remove the hub nut to do this, I can just pull off the hub/bearing
assembly with the shaft in place.
So last night I stripped off the wheel, caliper, rotor and got the
three hub assembly bolts off and... that's as far as I got. The Hub
assembly and heat shield aren't going anywhere. Any tips on separating
the assembly and shaft from the structure? I tried putting a bolt
halfway in, sticking a C clamp on it and pushing the hub off but that
didn't work. I can't figure out any way of rigging a puller on it
either.
And just to check, I don't need to go into the front diff to release
the axle shafts do I? I know some rear diffs have c-clips on the shaft
ends which need released first.
Cheers,
Stuart
