Jeep Security System, security light staying on Options

My security light is staying on after removing and renewing the battery on my 1997 Jeep Cherokee 2.5 td
This did not happen immediately it was a couple of days after, when I disconnected the battery again to remove the instrument cluster. (which was working perfectly before the dead battery removal but stopped two days after)
I have tried the lock/unlock with key fix but nothing happens.

The instruments have stopped working. I have removed the cluster and cleaned contacts. They came back on fully operational, but went out again the next time I tried to start the car This is when the security light appeared and stayed on!
I again disconnected the battery to try to reset the security system
Are these problems related? and is there a remedy?
The security light being on, as you will know stops me from starting the jeep.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
