I just added a few pics to show what i did on my 66 as far as a pic of my spring mount relocation and a few pics of the pitman arm relocation. I relocated the pitman arm because after hrs of looking online i couldnt find a drop pitman arm for a 66 cj5 so i just cut it and dropped the mount and all.

This sounds like a really good idea to me. Certainly better than longer shackles. For anyone with a welder, it seems cheaper than buying a suspension lift. Can anyone brainstorm a bit as to which would provide better performance? A suspension lift, it seems to me, would have a bit more bounce than a standard suspension. Still, moving the spring mounts doesn't seem too much different than using body lifts -- and I've heard body lifts can affect the ride as well. Would the ride be smoother with a spring mount relocation because it's under the frame? I'm really curious to hear from the group. Again, I love the idea Josh. I've never seen it before, of course I am a novice at all this.

It depends on what you're trying to achieve. If you just want to look good (mall crawler) then find the cheapest way you can to lift it, If you truly drive it off road then a suspension lift is the only way to go. The longer the spring the more movement (travel) up and down it will have. Articulation is what you want. Just my $.02 Tom >

What about street driving. Does a suspension lift and all that movement in the springs create "road surfing" etc.?

Ok here is what i know so far. On my buddies 66 bronco his is a beast off road and he still drives it to town and such. As far as i could tell its a 4 inch lift with the soft "stock" ride. I just got my new poly body mount kit today so i'm hopin to have it in the trails here at camp this weekend. When i do i'll get some pics of it out in the mud/water holes and on the hills out in the woods.

I'm running a RE 4.5" suspension lift with 36" Iroks and have no problems driving it @ 65MPH for 30 miles to work. (Granted it's not my daily driver) but I have no problems on the street In-fact it's never driven this well since I've owned it. Tom >
